The World and The Guardian
I think the language in India really reinforces the gender roles in place in that environment. I believe that the men and women ther have been told the same thing by everybody. Such as girls are supposed to be shy and quiet and feminine or that if they are out past 6 they'll be raped. Theses are repeated messages that are told to every boy and girl while they are growing up. Also through out The Guardian, the phrases such as "men can't control themselves" and "men are going to rape if girls are pretty" that's obviously not a normal way of thinking. There is a such tng as self control. These men have been told that they can't control themselves when they see a pretty woman so they believe they can't control themselves and use that as an excuse for rape and sexual abuse. Which is wrong. It was very irritating and appalling to here that the men in this country can simply say, "she is dressed to slutty, therefore,I could not control myself." Obviously you could, you just chose to try and get off by forcing yourself upon this girl who tried to look nice and then was out past six. It isn't a free for all, the way language gas influenced this society specifically is sickening. It makes my blood boil to hear these guys spewing these to make it sound like they had no choice and that instinct just took over, that is wrong. You obviously have some conscious level that what you're doing is wrong and abusive and violating. I just ant believe that these people have been so brainwashed that they believe that if a girl is out past six and dressed nicely then she is at fault for getting raped or abducted.

Cheshire Patch
Today
we met with Leslie Hutchinson the editor of Cheshire Patch. I was amazed by
what she knew about technology and her website. She really related everything
to mass communication through Twitter. What really surprised me were the
numbers that she gave. How last year Obama used twitter but there were no real
posts on twitter but this year during the debate there were millions within the
first 90 minutes. Another thing that really surprised me was her objectivity of
opinion pieces. She said flat out that if there was a adjective before a noun
then it was an opinion piece no matter what. I also learned about the CMS or
Content management system, which I thought was super cool as well as the SEO,
which I guess is like putting something into your title so it will come up in a
Google search. All in all I really liked the meeting and learned a ton of new
things, It was very interesting to learn about the journaling world.

Crystal cox case
i think this is more an example of Free speech than anything else. This woman is posting deliberately false things on her blog and letting everyone read it for free. It tore apart with Mr. Padrick's life with just a few posts. He eventually came too and sued her. And with outside regulation she has to pay an enormous fine to both Obsidian and Mr. Padrick. So, in the end the truth prevailed an Ms.Cox was exposed and rightfully accused and found guilty.
A free market place of ideas worked here. Where the general public decided that the woman was a little insane and was fined. and the truth always prevails, in the sense that all of falsehoods on her blog were seen as fake and held no accountability in the court of law.

What is news??
News is whats going on in the world. It is facts and opinions of certain events going on around the world; news covers many types of stories such as disasters, deaths, protests, weather and sex. But, a lot of news is centered around the USA there really isn't much news about other countries unless the US is somehow involved. Like our televised news doesn't really talk about the starvation in Africa or Kony that much, but they do talk about the teacher strikes happening in Chicago. I honestly have no idea who gets to decide that the news is or isn't maybe for televised news its the producer or writer, but definitely not the viewers.
I have been talking about televised news so far but getting news from the internet is also a great way to get news, because the internet has little to no censors and you can see almost any story you want about anything going on in the world. Also, on the internet it's not just about the US there are articles and videos of whats happening around the world.

My relation with the media
My relation to the media is not a very complicated or intense relationship. I actually don't use media for news and updates as much as i should i use them mostly for entertainment. Like, I love to watch TV for the shows I rarely ever watch the news unless its a weather forecast but usually I just watch TV shows. I also love surfing the internet and yet again I don't really use the internet for news i use it for games and. I go on twitter sometimes and sometimes i go on face book. Or I go online to play a computer game, but i don't use it for much else. I usually get news from the newspaper or sometimes magazines but even then its just sort of snippets of info that I have. I do use the media for entertainment but i am also sometimes bored with all of the propaganda about the upcoming election, it becomes tedious to see logos for Obama and Romney and how they know that their way is the right way. So my hot and steamy relationship with the media may have shaped me a little but I don't think it's really become an influence on me personally; except for the fact that i don't always know the most recent news. So other than that the media hasn't really shaped me or influenced my outlook in any way.
